The animals I typically nurture and rehabilitate often require extensive care due to their fragile health conditions, a commitment that I knew I wouldn’t be able to fulfill once my baby arrived,” shared Lauren. Her conviction was steadfast, until an unexpected visitor named Dove entered her life.
On the very day when Lauren resolved to temporarily relinquish her fostering role, she and her spouse chanced upon an injured cat on the roadside. Acting on instinct, they pulled over to assess the feline’s condition, which is when Lauren realized that the injured cat also bore the burden of pregnancy.
“It was evident that she was in a dire state, and an unexplainable connection blossomed between us, perhaps intensified by our shared state of advanced pregnancy,” mused Lauren.

Employing a clever lure of leftover food, Lauren managed to coax the cat towards her, ultimately wrapping her in a protective embrace within her jacket before transporting her to a veterinarian for necessary medical attention. Upon receiving treatment, Dove, as the cat was later named, was granted refuge in the Maners’ abode to convalesce. Despite inquiries within the community, it was revealed that Dove had led a life as a stray for the majority of her existence.

Dove’s sojourn within Lauren’s abode extended over several months, a period during which Lauren endeavored to secure ideal, permanent homes for Dove and her offspring. Encouragingly, the constellation of these seven lives remained within proximity, allowing Lauren and Kylie to maintain a connection.
“Fortunately, the mother cat found a loving home with a dear friend of mine, ensuring that I receive updates on her well-being. A number of the kittens were also adopted by acquaintances, enabling me to partake in visits,” revealed Lauren.
