The TV star’s health has been a constant source of concern.

Two years ago, he came clean about being diagnosed with prostate cancer and revealing that he had surgery to remove the tumor. His hip and knee problems have required repeated operations.
Since the middle of the 1970s, when he first entered the broadcasting industry, Roker has garnered a great deal of praise for the quality of his newscasts.

Despite significant health problems, he recently finished the Brooklyn Half Marathon.

It was hoped that encouraging messages would arrive. Hoda Kotb was overjoyed and said

“Love you Al and praying every day for a speedy recovery!” Dylan Dryer said on Al’s Facebook page. And Melvin Craig ended his note with “Love you brother…” eagerly forward your return.

Even though he is returning to Today now that he is feeling better, his wife of 27 years can’t help but bring up the fact that they are still in shock.

Deborah, an anchor for ABC News, interviewed director Brooke Shields and actress Brooke Shields during the premiere of the documentary Pretty Baby.

In her own words: “I think a lot of people don’t realize – and I never realized – that being a caregiver is really taxing, exhausting, frightening, all of those things.”

The reporter said, “I never went through anything like this,” adding, “And I hope I’ll never do it again.”

She continued, “But it’s tough,” and described how challenging it had been to get past the gloomy period, even though Al was in much better form. “I’m still kind of, I think, recuperating,” she said. I’m still feeling a bit drained. I still feel psychologically drained.

She continued, “But you know what, I’m grateful, and just trying to just bask in the moment and just be happy that he’s well, and we’re all well.”

When Al returned to Today on January 6, the ABC celebrity was there to welcome him back.

Deborah acknowledges that her husband Al is “back to driving me crazy,” but she is comforted by the love and support of her family and friends and draws strength from her religious beliefs and spirituality to deal with Al’s health problem.

My loved ones and my coworkers helped me get through it. Many of my coworkers here today helped me when I felt like I couldn’t go on. The presence of people, accessible via phone, email, and text, was crucial.

We pray for the family’s healing and for a world in which they never again have to experience what they have.

If you and your loved ones are fans of Al, please SHARE this post with them.
