Michael Strahan to miss another week of ‘Good Morning America’ amid ‘personal family matters’
If you’ve tuned in to Good Morning America recently, you might have noticed the absence of a familiar face. Michael Strahan has been off the GMA set since October 26, and as per the morning show’s announcement, he will continue to be off the air for the remainder of the current week.
The 51-year-old former NFL star, who has occasionally taken temporary leaves from GMA in the past to fulfill other obligations, is also noticeably absent from his analyst position on Fox NFL Sunday.
During his absence, Nightline co-anchor Juju Chang and World News Tonight host Linsey Davis have been stepping in to cover Strahan’s role on GMA.
On Sunday, Curt Menefee, Strahan’s colleague, mentioned his absence on Fox NFL Sunday, citing that he was “dealing with a personal family matter.”
An ABC spokesperson, addressing the situation, stated to People on Tuesday, “Michael Strahan will not be with us this week as he is dealing with some personal family matters. We appreciate everyone’s thoughts and concerns.”
As of October 25, Strahan has not posted on his Instagram, and he has not publicly addressed the reasons behind his current absence. The network and colleagues have expressed support, with the spokesperson stating, “Michael, you and your family are in our prayers. We’ll be here for you when you return to TV.”
