In the arms of Santa Claus, a cancer-stricken child passes away.

In a heart-wrenching incident, Eric Schmitt-Matzen, a 60-year-old man known for embodying Santa Claus during hospital visits, shared a poignant story. A nurse urgently called him to meet a terminally ill 5-year-old boy who had a fervent desire to see Santa Claus.

Without hesitation, Eric rushed to the hospital, where he engaged the child with a smile, saying, “Did I hear you’re going to miss Christmas?” The boy, weak but smiling, became delighted and exclaimed, “You’re my favorite elf.” Eric gifted him a PAW Patrol toy, and they shared a warm embrace.

As the child inquired about the afterlife, Eric reassured him, saying, “When you get there, you tell them you’re Santa’s number one elf.” Tragically, the child passed away in Eric’s arms, leaving his parents grief-stricken.
