Loki Boss is Ready for Season 3 Under 1 Condition: “That would be cool”
Loki producer Kevin Wright recently updated MCU fans on the possibility of the hit Disney+ series continuing into a third season. While a Season 3 pickup isn’t guaranteed, Wright explained he’d “love to keep telling stories” with the show’s team, potentially through a Loki-based spinoff.
Is Marvel Committed to Future Loki Seasons?
Speaking with TVLine, Wright clarified that he doesn’t “want to rush into a Season 3” or extend the show aimlessly. However, after two seasons of enjoying working with Loki’s talented cast and crew, the producer admitted he’d welcome more adventures centered around Tom Hiddleston’s fan-favorite character.
“I would love to keep telling those stories with them, in this world,” Wright explained, even drawing inspiration from Breaking Bad’s Better Call Saul spinoff. “Maybe it’s not ‘Loki’ Season 3. Maybe there’s something we can continue to do at the TVA, and it’s like our ‘Better Call Saul’ to ‘Loki’s’ ‘Breaking Bad.’ That would be cool, to me.”
What are Kevin Wright’s Thoughts About the Future of Loki?
While Wright currently doesn’t “know the future of these characters in the MCU,” his comments indicate Disney and Marvel execs share his enthusiasm for keeping the God of Mischief around. With Loki proving so popular on Disney+,
Wright believes “other filmmakers are going to want to come in and continue to tell stories” with the character. Interestingly, Wright noted that “in Season 1, as well — was, ‘Let’s treat this like it’s it’” regarding a potential series conclusion.
This mantra forced the creative team “to bring their best” and make each season “as fulfilling as possible.”
However, Wright explained this mindset stemmed from wanting to craft something special versus planning a finite ending for Loki’s run. So while the show’s future remains undecided, the producer believes viewers will get complete, satisfying stories either way.
Where Could Loki Turn Up Next in the MCU?
Even if Loki doesn’t return for a Season 3, Marvel has plenty of upcoming movies and shows keeping the door open for more multidimensional mischief. The heavily rumored Deadpool 3 is confirmed to lean into the MCU’s ever-expanding multiverse more than any previous film. With Mobius allegedly appearing alongside Wade Wilson, Loki could certainly tag along to help explain branching timelines.
Additionally, 2025’s Avengers two-parter event could utilize Loki’s knowledge of the incoming villain Kang the Conqueror. As an experienced time-hopper himself, Loki might return to guide Earth’s Mightiest Heroes against the next Thanos-level threat.
So while nothing is guaranteed regarding the God of Mischief’s future, Kevin Wright and Tom Hiddleston seem equally eager for more stories set in Loki’s warped corner of the MCU.
