Woman Is Grieving after Miscarriage but Her Dog Does The Most Amazing Thing
Ask anyone who has a dog in their family and they will tell you that animals are beyond amazing. They are there for us when we are having our best day and when we are having our worst day, and they will always be by our side.
One of the bad days that we may experience when we need our dog the most is when we are grieving. We need to talk to people and to express ourselves but sometimes, we just need our dog to talk to so that we can get our emotions out on the table.
Grieving may come in all different forms, but the one that Cassandra Hess was experiencing was very deep. She had just lost a baby to a stillbirth and she was experiencing deep grief over the situation. She got pregnant when her first child was still a baby, and they were really looking forward to the addition to the family.
18 weeks later, however, the little boy, whom they named Oakley, didn’t have a heartbeat. It was devastating but there was something that the dog did to make them feel better. It was a comfort to the mother that she will never forget.
The moment was captured by Cassandra and she shared it on social media. Many people were touched by what they saw.
The grieving mother was sitting on the floor going through the baby’s things, something that she couldn’t do right after the little one passed. It’s a very emotional scene, but the dog came over to the basket.
Just as she began to take the blanket out of the basket, he began sniffing it and he looked towards his mother with recognition on his face. She started crying and he immediately came to give her kisses.
He also continued to sniff around the basket, almost as if he was looking for the baby.
“The worst pain I’ve ever felt,” Cassandra wrote. “I delivered my son sleeping at 18 weeks almost a week ago. I was recording myself looking through his stuff for the last time before I put it away. This was the first time my dog saw the basket. I wasn’t sure if he would understand, but he did.”
