Baldur’s Gate 3 Live-Action Series/Movie Being Developed By Netflix, Says New Report

Game of the Year winner at this year’s Game Awards, Baldur’s Gate 3, is reportedly being adapted into a live-action series by the popular Stranger Things streamer Netflix.

Sources at Giant Freakin Robot claim that Netflix is looking for its next big game adaptation amid theories that their series The Witcher, starring Henry Cavill, may be coming to an end sooner rather than later.

Netflix is on a mission currently to adapt some of the biggest game and anime/manga titles of all time, with the aforementioned The Witcher heading into season 4 as well as their live-action hit series One Piece which has a team working hard on season 2 already – it’s safe to say that studios are finally starting to craft the perfect formula for a successful game/anime adaptation.

Live-Action Baldur’s Gate 3 Netflix Series Report Details

According to the report, talks of a live-action adaptation of the popular video game Baldur’s Gate 3 are being had at Netflix – with details that the streamer is in talks to acquire the rights.

As to if the rumoured live-action Baldur’s Gate adaptation will be a series “and/or” movie has yet to be revealed though, says Giant Freakin Robot.

It’s noted that Netflix may be looking in other directions for their next big live-action game adaptation due to Henry Cavill leaving The Witcher, passing the torch to Liam Hemsworth – as reactions from fans haven’t been too promising that the series will continue strong without the Man of Steel star.

As mentioned, studios are finally figuring out how to produce a live-action project based on a game that ends up surprising both fans and critics alike – something that was more often not the case say ten or twenty years ago.

With Hollywood’s Superhero machine increasingly failing at the box office, with studio execs currently trying to scrape plans together to turn things around in the next few years, could live-action game adaptations take over in the meantime and end up becoming the new thing? – It’s possible.
