Jurassic Park Actor Is Now Prepared To Die
Celebrity deaths just continued to pile up on us and, although we don’t have a death to report today, we certainly do have bad news. It involves a star from Jurassic Park who is facing the inevitable.
76-year-old Sam Neill has been battling cancer and he is now ‘prepared’ to die from it. He wrote about this in his upcoming memoir, Did I Ever Tell You This.
Neill disclosed in an interview that it was in March 2022 when his problems began. That was when he was diagnosed with stage III non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. In case you are unaware of this type of cancer, it is very dangerous and aggressive.
As you can imagine, a diagnosis like this is life altering. It also occurred when he was on his promotional tour for the third installment of the requel Jurassic Park series.
While he was on tour, he noticed that he had lumps in the glands in his neck and they were later diagnosed as being cancerous. He has gone through rounds of chemotherapy, with some problems associated with it.
There was some hope when a new chemotherapy drug was administered that seem to show results. He will have to take it for the rest of his life, and he says he is in remission.
Despite having a possible diagnosis that is terminal, he expressed: “I’m not afraid of dying; what I don’t want to do is to stop living because I really enjoy living.”
He says that he is still in remission but at some point in the future, the doctor said that the medication will stop working. He says he is prepared for it and is not remotely afraid of dying.
He continued: “I started to look at my life and realize how immensely grateful I am for so much of it. I started to think I better write some of this down because I’m not sure how long I have to live. I was running against the clock.”
He admits that he would like another decade or two and that he would be annoyed from dying.
“We’ve built all these lovely terraces, we’ve got these olive trees and cypresses, and I want to be around to see it all mature. And I’ve got my lovely little grandchildren. I want to see them get big. But as for the dying? I couldn’t care less.”
In the end, he says he really loves acting and is good for him to continue to work with other actors, including young actors. That being said, he isn’t interested in retiring or giving it up and we hope that he has many more years ahead of him.
