‘1000-Lb. Sisters’ Star Tammy Slaton Flaunts New ‘So Thin’ Figure in Swimwear after Losing 440 Lbs

In a remarkable contrast of past challenges and current accomplishments, Tammy Slaton, known for her role in “1000-Lb. Sisters,” has revealed a significantly slimmer physique to the public eye. However, alongside the praise for her transformation, a wave of unsettling reactions has emerged.

Tammy Slaton displayed her newly trimmed figure in a poolside snapshot on Instagram, shared by her friend, psychic medium Haley Michelle. Tammy opted for a dark blue one-piece swimsuit with a plunging neckline, seated next to Michelle, who wore black-and-white swim attire.

Michelle showed support for Tammy’s remarkable transformation, captioning her post with, “Proud of you #tammyslatonweightloss.”

Tammy has openly addressed her struggles with body image, previously revealing that her weight has been an enduring challenge. Now, fans are impressed by her progress and have expressed their excitement and encouragement.

One enthusiastic supporter exclaimed, “You are getting so thin!!!!” Another was moved to tears, writing, “Holy wow! The transformation is incredible! So happy to see how far you have come I may have cried a little.”

Others continued to shower Tammy with compliments and words of support. A thrilled fan commented, “I am so happy for Tammy!! She looks like a totally different person!! Keep going, girl!!”

Another acknowledged Tammy’s ongoing transformation with her appearance, “I know you need to finish losing before skin removal, but if it could be removed now, you could be even happier and be done. I think you’d be pretty small. You already are.”

However, amid the positive reactions, some responded negatively, finding Tammy’s transformation somewhat unsettling. One critic remarked, “I like Tammy but she looks creepy in this pic lol.”

An unimpressed user commented, “Sorry but this is scary,” while someone echoed a similar sentiment, “Omg this pic is horrifying.” Negative comments on Tammy’s photo continued.

“I’m wondering how is this iconic. More like frightening,” a critic commented. Another netizen added, “That is one of the most scariest things, I have ever seen.”

Despite the mixed reactions, Tammy’s significant weight loss represents a monumental transformation. Undergoing bariatric surgery in July 2022, she has since shed from 725 pounds to 285 pounds, a loss of 440 pounds.

She expressed her delight in newfound freedoms, such as improved mobility and reduced reliance on medical aids. “Just being able to walk without a walker or be pushed in a wheelchair, and no oxygen. I don’t even sleep with it at night anymore,” Tammy said.

Tammy’s milestones also included fitting into the front seat of a car and fastening the seatbelt without an extender. She noted that these accomplishments, though seemingly minor to others, are monumental for her.

Dr. Eric Smith, medical director of the Kentucky Bariatric Institute, who has been alongside Tammy throughout her journey, emphasized the importance of celebrating non-scale victories. “I’m most proud about is the goals that she’s achieving of actually living a healthier and happier life,” he added.

The doctor recalled how Tammy previously required transportation to his office in a minivan with seats removed due to her size. He noted that Tammy’s weight loss was a “huge accomplishment,” far from her previous experiences.

Tammy’s challenges extend beyond her personal journey, influenced by familial genetics and lifestyle choices. “I’ve always had a weight issue. I was born 9 lbs. 10 oz., and then I just kept gaining,” Tammy revealed.

She and her sister Amy recounted their difficult childhood experiences growing up in rural Kentucky, where they often managed meals alone while their mother worked multiple jobs.

Their diet primarily consisted of convenient, carb-heavy foods like ramen noodles and canned soup, with Tammy noting, “The microwave was our best friend.”

They also endured bullying due to their weight and turned to food for solace, particularly after their grandmother’s passing in 1999, prompting Amy to admit, “I started eating my feelings.”

Over the years, both sisters have encountered various health challenges due to their excessive weight. Despite these obstacles, they supported each other and attempted weight loss individually.

The sisters’ struggles became central to their public narrative when the TLC network chronicled their weight loss journey on the reality TV series “1000-Lb. Sisters.” Through this platform, they candidly shared the trials and triumphs of their experiences.

As the show documented their progress, Tammy Slaton took to Instagram to provide updates. She posted images of herself in a leather jacket, seated on an upturned crate, showcasing her weight loss. These photos have elicited responses from fans.

Comments include: “You look so different, well done,” and “Oh my Tammy, you look so healthy and fantastic.” Another fan said, “That doesn’t even look like her; she’s doing a great job.”

The series also chronicled Tammy’s 14-month stint in a weight-loss rehabilitation program, offering a detailed look at her transformation. She reflected on her weight loss and anticipated future experiences, saying, “Just being able to travel and sit in an actual car seat or in an airplane—just get in an airplane.”

Despite still encountering unpleasant remarks about their weight, Tammy and her sister remain unapologetic about sharing their remarkable journey with the world.

“By sharing our stories, we’re showing others that they can lose weight too. They’re not alone,” Tammy said, emphasizing how the show and their newfound visibility have expanded their horizons.
